Hello from Fairbank Lake!

Though I haven’t been living completely off of the grid, I have been living a much more disconnected life since I moved North two months ago, hence why I haven’t written in a while! For anyone who didn’t read my last post, I am currently living near Sudbury, Ontario, working as a Park Warden at Fairbank Provincial Park. This past year has been a hard one for me (and probably for many of you as well) but since coming up here I finally feel like myself again, it’s a place that I can actually breathe.

The past two months have been jam packed with work, visits and a lot of relaxing. A few weeks ago, I got to go and visit my best friend Michelle in Barrie, who I hadn’t seen in almost two years because of COVID. It is so nice to have a friend that you can go without seeing and pick up exactly where you left off. We had an amazing few days, going out to eat, shopping and having a lot of laughs.

This week, my dad came to visit me and though the weather was awful, it was nice to see someone from home! We went to go and see the big nickel in Sudbury which is a national monument which was really cool. Camping and raining are not a good combination, but we made the best of it including a canoe ride (halfway through it started pouring and we got drenched), eating kale salad in the van because our campfire got soaked and he even taught me how to play cribbage.

Next week, my gramma and grampa are coming to visit me which I am super excited about and I can’t wait to spend some time with them!

I honestly can’t believe that my work contract is done in just 8 weeks, the rest of the summer is going to fly by! As for the fall, I will be finishing my second year of my Bachelors of Education online and I will be doing my placements with the Greater Essex County District School Board.

If you have anything you want to know or hear about leave a suggestion in the comments below!

Love always,
